April Lockhart

April Lockhart born 4 July 1995. She began piano and guitar lessons in 7th grade which sparked curiosity. At the age of 12, she composed her first single, Different. At the age of 14 April spent a lot of her time to singing and writing songs. She began writing along with her dad at home in NY and LA within a short time. April was also able to add other themes in the song "Take My Hand" for a few of her friends who dealt with problems like peer pressure, issues, or even teenager suicide. Lockhart is a beauty and lifestyle influencer who has a growing following. She is a partner with the popular brand Ilia with whom she has a partnership and is also a lifestyle expert. It's true that she was born without a left hand, and it is what makes her different. It's not the only characteristic of her. So, Lockhart's Instagram profile isn't afraid to talk about her disabilities, yet it doesn't center around her disability neither. What message is it trying to convey? that we are all a part of a multitude of identities and we're greater than the physical person we are. Lockhart speaks via video in Nashville. "I don't want it to define my personal life. I don't want to be only known as a disability expert. And it doesn't affect my day-to-day life I do everything normally and I've found my own way to adjust to things. It's also a part of me, and I believe it's something that needs to be addressed. Lockhart has been a great example to other women in the area of acceptance of oneself. Yet, she confesses that she has had periods of feeling uneasy about her appearance as well as wearing clothes which displayed her arms. She dresses according to her preferences and is proud to post pictures of herself wearing the clothes she chooses on social platforms. To her, self-love was a long process.
