Julia Fiona Roberts is the daughter of Betty Lou Bredemus, and Walter Grady Roberts. She was born on October 28, 1967 at Atlanta. Roberts is part of four generations of the Robertses who reside in the Atlanta region, beginning in the family of her grand-father John Pendleton Roberts a farmer. The Robertses' father was interested in theater from a young age. While he was a student in Emory University from 1952 to 1954, he was a part of several productions. In 1953, when he joined the Air Force in Biloxi, he was seen together with Betty Lou Bredemus in Biloxi. Eric Anthony was their first born. They got married in the year 1957. Walter went to Tulane University New Orleans Louisiana after leaving the Airforce in 1957. In 1960, the family relocated to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working at Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter and Betty Lou financed their own production of a Sunday morning children's show, Bum Bum and His Buddies. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou established the Actors and Writers Workshop. It lasted for six years. They had two more youngsters Lelisa (called Lisa) Billingsley in 1965 as well as Julia (called Julie) in 1967.
